One of the most exciting parts about launching The Palm Shop is seeing other creatives turn our site’s templates into beautifully customized designs that match their brand. We’re so excited about the way newborn photographer Amanda Donaho’s Pebble Beach site turned out!
Tell us a little bit about yourself! What do you do, how did your business begin?
2017 kicked off my ELEVENTH year of photographing weddings, which feels crazy to me! I got into the industry while interning with another wedding photographer, and a year later started my own business and went full-time. When I first began, I photographed a little bit of everything, but as the years went on, I quickly realized my true passion was weddings, and about 7 years ago I switched to photographing weddings only. I shoot about 30+ weddings a year, and just added a lead associate photographer this year as well, which I’m thrilled about! I’ll celebrate my own 15th wedding anniversary this September, and we have 4 (really cute) kids (no really…. they’re adorable.) 😉 A little over 3 years ago I was approached by a touring company in Italy to do PR photos on one of their trips which quickly spun into a travel side of my brand developing. I’ve done a good bit of travel since, and love incorporating that into my wedding photography as well. I recently had one of my images from that first trip displayed in an art museum, and been a pretty amazing feeling to have a whole new arena open up for me that makes me feel so personally fulfilled.
What is it about your brand (or business) that makes it unique?
I think what makes me unique is the overall experience my wedding couples receive. I develop a solid relationship with my couples, but outside of that they know that I’m there for them through all of the wedding planning (I help with soooooo much more than just photography!) Additionally, I’m genuinely there for their MARRIAGE as well. I have a blog series called “Marriage Monday” in which I talk about the nitty-gritty of actually marriage. I don’t want the wedding day to come & go and loose that connection with them – I want to continue to serve them, even if just through words & advice on my blog, long after the wedding day is over.
Why did you decide to re-design your site?
Besides just wanting a general re-fresh, the main reason is that my mobile site was U.G.L.Y. It was a fully functional site, and I didn’t mind the desktop version, but something had to be done about the mobile view and to make it overall more responsive.
What was your favorite part of the re-design process?
I was really shocked to find that working in Showit was…. FUN! I was very nervous to switch platforms, as I had my previous setup for years & technology is generally not my friend. Krista was wonderful in calming my fears & as soon as I got into the new platform, I was surprised to find that I actually had fun playing with things!
Is there anything you think other people considering using a Palm Shop theme should know?
Krista was so wonderful to work with! As I mentioned, I had hesitations on how difficult it would be transferring to a new platform before starting the process, and she quickly answered all of my questions. Once I got started, I had a few questions come up & she again was wonderful to help & truly went above & beyond. I absolutely LOVE my new site & my entire Palm Shop experience!
